Meals at A Spanish Experience

Authentic Andalusian Food

Food is a central part of life in Andalucía, and it plays an equally important role during A Spanish Experience. Meals are moments to slow down, feel cared for, and enjoy time together — whether gathered around a candlelit table at the Palacio or sharing tapas during a day out exploring.

All meals throughout the retreat are included, allowing guests to relax fully and enjoy the experience without needing to think about planning or budgeting for food.

Breakfast at the Palacio

Breakfast is served each morning at the Palacio and is a highlight in its own right — authentically Spanish, generous, and deeply nourishing.

Mornings begin with a relaxed spread reflecting everyday Andalusian life, using fresh local ingredients and produce from the Palacio garden where possible.

Guests can expect freshly baked bread and warm molletes, served with extra virgin olive oil from local estates, ripe vine tomatoes to grate by hand, and flaky sea salt. Artisan butter and homemade marmalades and jams made from bitter orange, figs, and quince sit alongside a selection of Iberian cured meats from Los Pedroches, aged Andalusian cheeses, and seasonal fruit.

From the kitchen come eggs cooked to order, often paired with vegetables from the Palacio garden or gently set in olive oil. Spanish omelette, bacon, quiche, bowls of salmorejo on warmer mornings, and homemade pastries and cakes complete the table.

Freshly squeezed orange juice, carefully prepared coffee, and a selection of teas and herbal infusions are always available.

Lunches During the Excursions

Lunches are enjoyed out in the towns and cities we visit, at carefully selected local restaurants and traditional tapas bars.

These are light, authentic tapas-style meals, chosen for their quality, character, and connection to local cooking.

Lunch provides a welcome pause in the day — a chance to sit together, enjoy local flavours, and recharge before continuing our explorations.

Dining at the Palacio

Several evenings during the week are spent dining at the Palacio, where meals are prepared by our Palacio chef and served at the table by attentive staff.

These evenings are relaxed and welcoming, with a sense of ease that comes from being well looked after.

Menus are inspired by traditional Andalusian cooking, seasonal ingredients, and local specialities. Some dishes are designed for sharing, while others are served as individual courses, creating meals that feel sociable yet considered.

Candlelit tables, unhurried service, and post-dinner nightcaps under the stars make evenings at the Palacio a highlight of the retreat.

Dining Out in Seville & Lora del Río

Some meals during the retreat are enjoyed out, in carefully selected local restaurants in Seville and Lora del Río.

These meals are an important part of the experience, allowing guests to enjoy the atmosphere of each place and experience Andalusian food as it’s shared and enjoyed locally.

In Seville, we dine in the city after our flamenco performance. The restaurant is chosen for its quality, welcoming service, and traditional cooking, offering a relaxed and sociable way to end a full and memorable day in the city.

In Lora del Río, we enjoy a more local evening meal, offering a chance to experience everyday Andalusian dining in a town that sits at the heart of the region. These meals are unpretentious, generous, and rooted in local flavours — the kind of places people return to again and again.

As with all meals during the retreat, restaurants are selected with care, focusing on quality, consistency, and a warm atmosphere. These meals are included in the retreat price and form part of the shared experience of the week.

Extras

Refreshments

An honesty bar is available at the Palacio throughout the day and evening, offering teas, coffees, and light snacks. Guests are welcome to help themselves at any time, adding to the relaxed, at-home feel of the retreat.

Room Service

Room service is available at the Palacio for guests who would prefer to dine privately in their room. This service is arranged directly with the Palacio team and is not included in the retreat price.

Any room service orders are the responsibility of the guest and are payable directly to the staff delivering the service.

Dietary Requirements

We are happy to cater for vegetarians and vegans, and we take dietary requirements seriously.

Please let us know any needs in advance so we can plan accordingly with the Palacio chef and restaurants.

Traditional Andalusian cooking often includes nuts, particularly at breakfast and in shared dishes. If you have a nut allergy or other severe allergies, we ask that you contact us before booking so we can talk things through and ensure the retreat is suitable for you.
